Demeke B. Ashebo, Ph.D., P.E., Founder and Principal

Demeke B. Ashebo, Ph.D., P.E., is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in a variety of industries, including aviation, transportation, energy, and industrial projects. As the Founder and Principal of Smoky Hill Engineering, LLC, Demeke demonstrates exceptional skill in civil and structural engineering, consistently exceeding client expectations from the initial site selection phase to the final stages of project completion.

Before establishing Smoky Hill Engineering, Demeke held senior engineering and managerial roles at prominent global companies such as Boeing, Abengoa, Gannett Fleming Inc, AWS Truepower LLC, Kiewit, and Quanta Services. His significant contributions to these organizations are a testament to his expertise and commitment to excellence.

Demeke’s extensive knowledge in civil and structural engineering encompasses engineering analysis and design, QA/QC, EPC and Design-Build projects, contract documents, technical specifications, field inspections, independent engineering, and project management. Additionally, he is an active contributor to the advancement of civil and structural engineering research and development, with his work published in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. Currently, Demeke serves on the board of the Denver Economic Development & Opportunity WorkForce with the City and County of Denver, further illustrating his dedication to both his profession and community.

Demeke’s impressive academic background includes a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, an M.Sc. in Structural Engineering, and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. As a licensed professional engineer, Demeke holds certifications in multiple states, showcasing his adaptability and expertise in the field.
